Carmen Escudero was born in 1959 in Barcelona. In the late 80s, she takes an interest in photography and gradually consolidates her place in the market as a fashion and portrait photographer.
With a university degree in Psychology, she now works as a coach and Gestalt therapist, combining this with art photography and occasional returns to fashion for designers who request her work. She has always found similarities in both fields when exploring the world of emotions and human communication, and photography as a testimony for information, documentary or advertising. This twofold activity, being a psychologist and a photographer, gives her the chance to create dialogues where she can explore the world of emotions and human communication, and use photography as a witness and “cleansing” of different emotional landscapes. So she seeks out images in the surroundings that collect and document an array of states and perceptions. An echo within multiple realities, striving to detach from the obvious, and search for the enigma hidden between reality and fantasy. Her work is constantly evolving, pushing her to explore paths leading to places she can capture with greater intention: images that tell stories, some coming from dreams or reminiscence. But chance and the encounters this triggers in her, also play a decisive role in her work.
In 2015, she took an interest in video art with Motion Haikus, together with the musician and video artist Victor Bombí.
Her personal work since 2009 has been exhibited in various places and art galleries.
Carmen Escudero nace en 1959 en Barcelona. A finales de los 80 se acerca a la fotografía y poco a poco fue consolidándose en el mercado como fotógrafa de moda y de retratos.
Licenciada en psicología, actualmente compagina su trabajo como coach y terapeuta guestáltica con la fotografía artística aunque de vez en cuando vuelva a la moda para algunos diseñadores que reclaman su trabajo. Siempre encontró similitudes en los dos ámbitos, a la hora de explorar el mundo de las emociones y de la comunicación humana y la fotografía como testimonio informativo, documental o publicitario. Esta doble actividad, la de psicóloga y fotógrafa, le permiten entablar un diálogo a la hora de explorar el mundo de las emociones y de la comunicación humana y usa la fotografía como testimonio y como “purga” de diferentes paisajes emocionales, buscando en el entorno imágenes que puedan recoger y documentar diferentes estados y percepciones. Un eco, de entre las múltiples realidades, pudiendo abstraerse así de lo mas obvio y buscando el enigma que se esconde entre la realidad y la fantasía. Su trabajo evoluciona de manera constante, cosa que le obliga a explorar campos que la llevan a lugares buscados con más intención: imágenes para contar historias, algunas que parten de sueños y de evocaciones. Pero el azar y los encuentros que le provocan también juegan un papel determinante en su obra.
En 2015 se acerca al videoarte con Motion Haikus junto al musico y videoartista Victor Bombí.
Desde 2009 su trabajo personal ha sido expuesto en diferentes lugares y galerias de arte.
